WHAT HEELS: If This Happened At Gitmo, Obama Would Call It “Torture”

WWII vet Marvin Schur, 93, froze to death in his Bay City, MI home after Bay City Electric Light and Power installed a limiter to ration his electricity use after he had racked up $1,000 in unpaid bills. When his body was found, the temperature inside his modest home had plummeted below 32 degrees, water in the kitchen sink was frozen solid and the inside of the windows were opaque with frost, reports The Detroit News. Deputy Chief Medical examiner Dr. Kanu Virani said that it was the first time in 18 years he had conducted an autopsy on someone who died of hypothermia indoors and described Schur’s death as slow and agonizing: “The exposed parts of the body start getting a burning pain," he said. “It becomes intense, like frostbite.” City Manager Robert Belleman told The Associated Press that the municipal utility’s policies on installing limiters on customers’ electrical lines will be reviewed, but he didn't believe the city did anything wrong – and blamed Schur’s neighbors: “Neighbors need to keep an eye on neighbors. When they think there's something wrong, they should contact the appropriate agency or city department.”

Prolonged exposure to cold is one of the aggressive interrogation techniques used to break hardened terrorists and jihadis President Barack Obama issued an Executive Order to ban, but that’s exactly what Schur, a U.S. citizen and war veteran, was subjected to. The Stiletto is interested to see whether Obama cares as much about Schur's life as he does about KSM's, and what he plans to do to ensure something like this does not happen again.
