Walter Hoover, 70, of Webb City, MO, got ticked off that he couldn’t get the digital TV converter to work after his cable provider cut off analog service on February 17th so he shot his TV set, setting off a chain of events leading to a two-hour standoff with police, state troopers and county deputies, as well as a SWAT team evacuating his neighborhood, reports The Joplin (MO) Globe: “[T]he SWAT team … began urging him by megaphone to come out unarmed and surrender. Around 6 p.m., Hoover … was taken into custody without any shots being fired.”
