WHAT A HEEL: Long Arm Of The Law Takes A Leg

When Rigoberto Zarazua-Rubio, 33, was arrested in at an Omaha apartment and charged with conspiracy to sell methamphetamine, authorities learned he was named in a warrant from Des Moines for theft of a $17,000 prosthetic leg that was reported stolen in August 2005, reports The Des Moines Register:

Todd Schweizer of Spectrum Prosthetics and Orthotics said at the time that Zarazua-Rubio came into the Ingersoll Avenue location several times over a week to be measured and fitted. He picked up the finished product and tested it for a few hours but did not return pay for it, according to a police report.

Zarazua-Rubio, who is also under suspicion of being in the U.S. illegally, is facing theft and drug-trafficking charges and could be deported. His fake leg was confiscated and will be returned to Spectrum.
