President Barack Obama was jonesing for the San Francisco-style pizza from St. Louis restaurant Pi, which he enjoyed while campaigning in MO last fall, so presidential aide Reggie Love “arranged to have the pizza chef bring 20 pounds of dough and 3 gallons of sauce at his own expense to the White House kitchen and cook there” last Friday, reports People:
[Chris] Sommers offered to deliver a few frozen pies to the president after the election but was told he couldn't send food to the White House because of security concerns. …
"It will be casual lunch," says Sommers, who will be helped by Pi chef Ryan Mangialardo, 27, and Anne Schuermann, 24, Sommers' girlfriend.
It is roughly 700 miles between St. Louis and Washington, D.C., and according to TerraPass, which sells carbon offsets for air travel, Sommers and his two pals will have produced 3,870 lbs. of CO2 on this round-trip flight – if they are flying economy class.
