NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Cutting Off Your Finger To Spite Your Boss
Serbian union chief Zoran Bulatovic sawed his left pinky off and ate it to “show how desperate he and other workers were” over wages that their employer, state-owned Raska Holding textile factory, has not paid in years, reports Reuters:
Bulatovic said he decided to act after his deputy, "a single mother of three, was the first to say she would cut off her finger. I could not allow her to do that," he said. …
Some employees have not been paid for years, only collecting social benefits, like free medical care.
About two dozen workers went on a 19-day hunger strike last year.
The union wants the state to nationalize the company’s debt and apparently regards the cutting off of body parts to be a sound negotiating being revolted by his autologous canabalism. Good thing Yugoslavia has socialized medicine; let’s hope mental health is amongst the free treatment available to Bulatovic.
