NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Double D(UI)

David Michael Craig, 26, of Moon Township, PA, was arrested for suspected drunken driving twice within a three-hour period, reports Beaver County Times (Beaver, PA):

Police said Craig didn’t have any alcohol in his system but failed field sobriety tests. Craig had muscle relaxers and 10 buprenorphine tablets …

Craig had been prescribed the muscle relaxers five days earlier, but only three pills of the 90-pill prescription were left, police said. There was no prescription for the buprenorphine, a medication commonly used to treat opiate withdrawal that can also be used to get high.

After his first arrest on charges of DUI, possession of controlled substances and possession of an offensive weapon, police left Craig at home in the custody of his mother. He later drove to the police station to ask for his drugs back. When Craig got into his car to drive home, the police pursued him and arrested him a second time on charges of driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding police, and resisting arrest.
