NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: Golden Shower

A new TV ad campaign (video) by environmental group SOS Mata Atlantica encourages Brazilians to save water by making their showers double as pissoirs so as to cut down on the number of flushes per household, reports The Associated Press: “The group says if a household avoids one flush a day, it can save up to 4,380 liters (1,157 gallons) of water annually.” Somehow, this is supposed to “save” the Atlantic rainforest.

The Stiletto checked TreeHugger and a number of other environmental news sites that ran this story and none of them explained the connection between toilet-flushing and the rainforest, so she’s going to dismiss this as another crappy environazi idea – like Sheryl Crow’s toilet paper ban.
