WHAT HEELS: Family Fraud
A mother and her two daughters, who pleaded guilty to bank fraud and aggravated identity theft for receiving for more than $722,000 in student loans using stolen identities, were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Seattle, reports The Seattle Times:
Leslie Y. Gordon, 36, who was described by federal prosecutors as the leader of the scheme, was sentenced to five years in prison, five years of supervised release and ordered to pay more than $580,000 in restitution.
Her 21-year-old sister, Theresa Hardy, was sentenced to 21 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
The mother of the two women, Kathy L. Hardy, 60, will serve a year of home detention and five years of supervised release. She will be caring for her daughters' young children while they serve their time.
