NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: You Snooze, You Lose
French chess Grandmaster Vladislav Tkachiev showed up as drunk as a Pepé Le Pew for his match against India's Praveen Kumar and fell asleep. When organizers of the international tournament in Kolkata, India, could not rouse him “the game was awarded to the Indian on the technical ground of Tkachiev being unable to complete his moves within the stipulated time of an hour and 30 minutes.” Tkachiev was reprimanded, but permitted to continue in the competition.
