NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: That (Star)Ship Has Sailed

Reader Pam Siegfried passed along a fund-raising E-mail she received from Peter Rothberg, Associate Publisher of The Nation, “for the magazine's continued survival and growth.” Recipients are invited to a mix-and-mingle featuring “some of America's most influential personalities” followed by a reception for the not-so-modest fee of $200 per ticket ($250 at the door).

 

On Wednesday, November 18th, “Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison, Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner, and critically-acclaimed author Walter Mosley” will discourse on the theme “What will become of our culture?” and “explore the relationship between culture, politics, and social change in a conversation about where our culture is and where it's heading.” The event is being held at a venue called the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space – yes, you’re reading that correctly: “Leonard Nimoy,” “Theatre” and “Symphony” are all relationally juxtaposed - so one might argue that our culture has already gotten past the trap in the crapper and is floating aimlessly in the sewer. There, The Stiletto just saved you $200 ($250 at the door).

 

Editorial Note: The Stiletto is a huge Star Trek fan, but still …
