THE OTHER SHOE DROPS: Updates To Previous Posts
† Is Hasan A Crazy Terrorist, Or A Terrorist Crazy?: Sixty percent of likely voters nationwide say last week's shootings at Fort Hood should be investigated by military authorities as a terrorist act, according to a Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey, and 76 percent also believe the army should remove from duty officers who attempt to contact radical terrorist organizations.
At yesterday’s memorial service to honor the 13 soldiers killed in the Ft. Hood massacre nearly a week ago, President Barack Obama obliquely acknowledged the growing body of evidence that alleged shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan could have been motivated by Islamic extremism ("It may be hard to comprehend the twisted logic that led to this tragedy. But this much we do know: No faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor") - while avoiding mentioning him by name. When the investigation is concluded and all other excuses and explanations have been swept aside, perhaps Obama, the army brass and the MSM will frankly admit what anyone with a modicum of common sense had already figured out.

† Updates To Previous Posts (fifth item, Now Is Not The Time To Talk About Race): Former New York Post associate editor Sandra Guzman, who is of black and Puerto Rican descent, has filed a discrimination suit contending that she was fired “in retaliation for complaints about pervasive racism and sexism at the newspaper” – including taking exception to a cartoon that appeared to liken U.S. President Barack Obama to a chimpanzee [emphasis, The Stiletto] – reports Reuters:
The lawsuit said Guzman, the "only female editor of color at the Post" … worked for the newspaper for six years and had received strong performance reviews as recently as July.
The lawsuit contained allegations of racist or sexist conduct at the paper, citing as one example a senior executive who, according to the lawsuit, often referred to Guzman as "Cha Cha #1."
Guzman is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, including for emotional distress and harm to her career.
A spokeswoman for the newspaper said Guzman's suit has no merit, and that a monthly insert she edited was eliminated, and her job with it, because of declining advertising sales.

With CA on the verge of implementing energy-conserving regulations that constitute a de facto ban on the sale of big-screen TVs – and other states poised to enact similar legislation - a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 66 percent of Americans oppose such laws, and 53 percent think being able to buy the TV of their choice is is more important than conserving energy.
† Updates To Previous Posts (A High-Energy Particle Physics Rapper): The Large Hadron Collider, which lies beneath the Swiss-French border, has been shut down for several months after a faulty electrical connection between two magnets led to a mechanical failure after a test run in September 2008 – one of a series of misfortunes that have plagued the $10 billion atom smasher. Now, the gizmo has shorted out again after a bird reportedly dropped a "bit of baguette" onto an outdoor electrical installation that supplies energy to the massive particle accelerator.
