NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Runway Rage

Delta Airlines pilot and private aircraft instructor Dan Wayne Gryder, 48, prompted officials to shut down the Griffin-Spalding Airport in GA for 45 minutes after he drove his car across the runway and taxiway, then almost struck City of Griffin Code Enforcement Officers and their vehicles while attempting to take off in his 1937 DC-3A, reports WXIA-TV (Channel 11-Atlanta):

"It appears that Gryder did not have enough fuel for a flight and we were not going to help him leave the ground," said Griffin Police Sgt. John Hayes.

Police said that Gryder demanded fuel, but eventually gave up and exited the plane. …

Police charged Gryder with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Obstruction of an Officer with Federal charges pending.

Delta has suspended Gryder while the incident is being investigated.
