WHAT A HEEL: Cookie Monster

Three members of a Girl Scout troop in front of an Albertsons supermarket in Victorville, CA, sold four boxes of cookies to a woman who gave them a $100 bill. Later, the girls discovered the bill was counterfeit, meaning she got the cookies for free plus another $80 from the till, reports The Sun (San Bernardino, CA):

"In order for them to make $100 they'd have to sell over 400 boxes of cookies, so it's really sad," said Denielle Knight, leader of Troop 1204.

The annual fundraiser for troops around the nation is in full swing. And while Knight's troop members would normally be excited about earning their way toward overnight trips and other activities, they're learning a hard lesson in criminal behavior.

"The Girl Scouts is a wonderful program and to have it overshadowed by something that negative is awful," Knight said. …

The woman is in her 40s or 50s, has shoulder-length blond [sic] hair and is 5-feet-2 to 5-feet-4 inches tall. She wore a white T-shirt, blue jeans and red gloves.

The security camera in the Albertson’s parking lot may have picked up an image of her walking to her car, but in the meantime, Victorville sheriff's department is asking anyone with information to call 760-241-2911.
