THE DAILY BLADE: Let Them Eat Steak!: Part VII
“Nothing more fully reveals the essential character of a person or group than a crisis,” notes The Washington Examiner.
The Wagyu beef-loving President Barack Hussein Obama – he of the clenched jaw – set the lackadaisical tone (sixth item) for his national security team during the Christmas bomber incident by not cutting his vacation short. And now his hearty partying signals the West Wing staff that it’s not all work and no play - no matter how many domestic and foreign crises are playing out simultaneously.
From The Examiner:
[T]he ecological and political catastrophe of the Gulf oil spill has exposed a breathtaking level of incompetence, political opportunism and mendacity at the heart of the Obama administration. Documents obtained by the Center for Public Integrity make clear that the White House was told by the Coast Guard within 24 hours of the April 20 explosion on BP's Deepwater Horizon platform that the equivalent of 8,000 barrels a day could escape into the ocean. Within three days, Obama and his senior aides were warned that the spill could exceed the in environmental damage caused by the Exxon Valdez wreck in 1989.
Despite these warnings, over the next two months Obama attended Democratic fundraisers, played golf, hosted basketball and football teams at the White House and delivered commencement speeches. Two weeks passed before he could be bothered to go to Louisiana.
Meanwhile, FamousDC.com reports that White House spokesman Tommy Vietor and chief speechwriter Jon Favreau indulged in a spur-of-the-moment shirtless beer pong match at Old Glory in Georgetown on Sunday, while vice president Joe Biden and White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel sprayed each other with water guns at a party hosted by Biden, reports Gawker.
It’s a good bet that the idled fisherman and soon-to-be-idled oil industry workers in LA do not appreciate these high jinx while their lives and livelihoods are being destroyed. Clearly, Obama and the people who surround him are profoundly unserious.
We Fight Them Over There So We Don’t Have To Fight Them Over Here?: Part XI
American-born Mohamed Mahmood Alessa, 20, and 24-year-old Carlos Eduardo Almonte, a naturalized U.S. citizen who converted to Islam as a teenager, were headed to Somalia to join Islamic extremist group Al Shabab, but were arrested at Kennedy International Airport and charged with conspiring to kill, maim and kidnap people outside the United States., reports The New York Times:
The men have been under scrutiny by the F.B.I. since 2006, after the agency received a tip on its Web site. Beginning last year, an undercover officer from the New York Police Department’s Intelligence Division recorded many meetings and conversations with them, during which they discussed their plans, according to a criminal complaint.
The emergence of homegrown terrorists - highlighted by the recent arrest of Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized United States citizen born in Pakistan who attempted to set off a car bomb in Times Square, and the arrest of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, an American-born Muslim and an Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people at Fort Hood - has alarmed officials. …
“Even when individuals plan to support terrorist activity abroad, we remain concerned that once they reach their foreign destinations they may be redirected against targets back home, as we’ve seen in the past,” Raymond W. Kelly, the New York police commissioner, said in a news release. “We are also concerned that should they remain undetected and fail in their foreign aspirations that they might strike domestically, as was discussed as a possibility in this case.” …
The suspects, both United States citizens, physically conditioned themselves, engaged in paintball and tactical training, saved thousands of dollars for their trip, and acquired military gear and apparel, according to the complaint. They talked about what they said was their obligation to wage violent jihad, and at times expressed a willingness to commit acts of violence in the United States, the complaint said.
Why Do Libs Want To Know Why Elton John Agreed To Sing At Rush Limbaugh's Wedding?
Rush Limbaugh engaged Elton John to perform at his fourth wedding – reportedly paying him a cool $1 million - and conservatives didn’t question Limbaugh's “inclusiveness” but liberals immediately questioned John’s motives.
The lede of People magazine’s article was “Elton John may have seemed like the last person expected to perform at Rush Limbaugh's wedding over the weekend.” To whom did John seem like “the last person expected to perform” at this particular wedding”? People doesn’t say; the writer assumes you can fill in the blank yourself.
So the takeaway message is that when a liberal or a member of a "protected group" aids and abets a conservative to be inclusive, (s)he is a sellout. Libs are all for inclusiveness until it undermines their worldview that conservatives cannot be inclusive.
