THE DAILY BLADE: President Obama Channels Gov. Paterson
One liberal Dem pol is warning of “anarchy” and “unimaginable chaos” if the emergency spending bills he wants are not passed.
Another liberal Dem pol is urging lawmakers to approve a huge emergency spending package or risk "massive layoffs of teachers, police and firefighters."
One of these men is President Barack Hussein Obama. The other is NY Gov. David Paterson. Can you tell which is which?
Thomas Friedman Wants To Blame The Stiletto (And You, Too) For the Gulf Oil Crisis
New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman says that we all collectively need to shoulder the blame for the gushing crude oil befouling the waters and beaches of LA, FL and AL, because we “sent BP out in the gulf to get us as much oil as possible at the cheapest price. (Of course, we expected them to take care, but when you’re drilling for oil beneath 5,000 feet of water, stuff happens.)”
But the environmental disaster is not The Stiletto's fault - nor the fault of NYC residents who commute to work via mass transit, schlep their groceries home on foot (or with the help of a small cart) and think nothing of hoofing it when the distance between Point A and Point B is a mile. The carbon footprints of many NYers are not much bigger than baby booties.
Therefore, The Stiletto feels justified in specifically blaming BP for not having appropriate crisis protocols and equipment at the ready in the event of the unthinkable - and President Barack Hussein Obama, whose incompetence during this crisis is an unhappy blend of former NYC Mayor David Dinkins' diffidence during the first World Trade Center take-down attempt, the Crown Heights race riots and the Korean bodega boycotts and former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin's slo-mo response and attempts to push his responsibilities onto others as Katrina bore down on and battered the city. Unlike the man who should have been president - especially now - Obama, a community organizer, has proven himself unable to organize much less to lead.
The Stiletto Scoops The Wall Street Journal
In addition to being unable to process mathematical, medical, scientific and technical concepts and data, Americans get their information from journalists who are equally unable to process mathematical, medical, scientific and technical concepts and data. The inevitable result? A confused, uninformed, easily misled electorate.

Governmental power joined with wrongheadedness is something terrible, but all too common. Realizing that many of our leaders and their constituents are economically unenlightened sheds light on the troubles that surround us.

It’s Flag Day

She’s a grand old flag, she’s a high-flying flag. On this day 233 years ago the Continental Congress approved the design for the United States flag. A collection of resources commemorating Flag Day and the emblem of the land we love:

Regarding one's carbon footprint, actually a lot of plastics use petroleum so we all use oil. But as someone else said, why are we drilling in 5000 feet of water anyway? Because environmental regs have prevented us from drilling somewhere like on land in ANWR, for example. One could say that the problem exists because we have not told BP to get us oil as cheaply as possible, but to do it a mile below sea level instead.
