WHAT A HEEL: Jilted Girlfriend Sends Threatening Texts To Herself To Frame Ex
Jeanne Mundango Manunga, 25, of Santa Ana, CA , went to three different police departments on at least 19 occasions to complain that her ex-boyfriend and his sister-in-law were harassing her with threatening text messages, and they were arrested - several times - for making criminal threats against her. But events took a bizarre turn when the alleged text terrorists found out that Manunga had bought a pre-paid phone under the sister-in-law's name and was, apparently, sending the messages to her cell phone, reports The Orange County Register. Conducting their own investigation, police quickly determined that the pre-paid cell phone was always somewhere in the vicinity of Manjunga's home or office when the text messages were sent. A jury convicted Manunga of three felony counts of false imprisonment by fraud or deceit and two misdemeanor counts of making a false police report. She has been sentenced to a year in jail, followed by three years probation. Manunga was also ordered to pay her victims $50K in restitution so that they can recover the costs associated with having to raise bail each time they were arrested.
