NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: Blockheads Try To Sell Wooden “Laptops”

You’ve heard the warning about not taking any wooden nickels. Visitors to the MS State Fair are being warned not to buy any wooden laptops.

Frank Hamilton, 54, and Eddie Handford, 45 (allegedly) tried to dupe people into buying cut-rate Toshiba laptops at the Mississippi Fairgrounds that were actually blocks of wood and pads of paper wrapped in bubble wrap, reports WAPT-TV (Channel 16-Jackson, MS):

"They were making a pretty good offer, like this notebook right here is $799, according to their labels, and they were asking for $400 or $500," Lt. Jeffery Scott said. …

"By the time you take and get it home you have found out that you have purchased a block of wood and you might as well throw it on the fireplace,” Scott said. …

Both men are now charged with two counts each of trademark infringement, Scott said. If convicted, each could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and a ordered to pay a $20,000 fine.

The two men, who had been arrested numerous times for conducting this scam, were also peddling sell duplicated sex tapes, cameras and jewelry.
