THE DAILY BLADE: Even Liberal NYers Are Getting Fed Up With Obama’s Policies
According to a new Gallup poll, NY is #7 on the list of the 10 most liberal states – defined by the percentage of self-identifying liberals (27 percent), and is also on the list of the 10 most Democrat states. Which makes the findings of these Rasmussen telephone surveys of 500 likely voters conducted on July 20th interesting.
In the first survey, 56 percent said they favor the repeal of Obamacare; of these 41 percent “strongly” favor repeal. On the other side of the fence, 42 percent said they oppose repeal of the health care law; of these, 31 percent “strongly” oppose repeal. Most Empire State Republicans (yes, they do exist) and independents favor repeal of Obamacare, whereas Dems are split on the question. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
While support of an AZ-like immigration bill in NY is 14 points lower than the national average, the second survey found that nearly half of those surveyed (47 percent) do favor such legislation. Thirty-eight percent are opposed, and 16 percent are undecided. In addition, nearly half (45 percent) also disagree with the Justice Department’s lawsuit to strike down AZ’s law, while 37 percent agree with it and 18 percent are not sure. Republicans and independents strongly favor a law like AZ’s for NY and oppose the Justice Department’s challenge. Democrats take the opposite view on both issues. Again, for such a staunchly Dem and liberal state, one would expect the numbers to tilt more strongly against AZ’s law and for the Obama administration’s attempt to kill it.

A few minutes after Michael Dupree broke into a car and stole the red bike inside it, the homeless caught by the victim and two neighborhood men who held him until the police arrived. Currently incarcerated for 12 years for burglary and cocaine possession, Dupree has filed a lawsuit claiming he was assaulted and battered during the citizen’s arrest and now suffers “permanent disabilities and psychological disorders,” reports the St. Petersburg Times:
"It's laughable," said Anthony McKoy, one of the men being sued. "It's a waste of taxpayer money." …
McKoy said he couldn't believe it when he was served with Dupree's lawsuit earlier this month.
"I thought it was a joke," McKoy said. "I'm the victim."
McKoy said he expects the suit to be dismissed.
"What gall," he said. "I guess time in prison just makes you go crazy."
Dupree, whose life of crime dates back to 1990, is seeking $500,000 and punitive damages.
