NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Glass Ceiling
Police responding to a burglar alarm at William's Boots in a strip mall in Pico Rivera, CA, spotted someone inside nearby De La Cruz Jewelry through a window and searched the building. When they heard a noise in the attic, they futilely ordered the person to come out, reports the Whittier Daily News:
Deputies sprayed pepper spray into the attic shortly before the man fell through the ceiling, Adams added. [Jose Parada, 23] was arrested about 10 a.m. About $2,000 worth of necklaces believed to have been taken from the jewelry store were not found … and authorities suspected they may have been stashed somewhere inside one of the businesses.
In addition to the boot store and the jeweler, an antique shop had also been broken into. Parada was held in custody in lieu of $20,500 bail on a charge of suspicion of burglary.
