WHAT HEELS: Blaming The Victim

Tyce Von Franklin hid in the bathroom at Texas Trust Credit Union in Arlington, waited until closing time, then forced bank teller Kyle Lightner and other employees into a vault loaded with cash. He made off with $183,000, but just four hours later Franklin was arrested by Fort Worth police who found marijuana in his car, a lot of cash, a gun and a surgical mask after he had been stopped for speeding, reports KXAS-TV (Channel 5-Dallas-Fort Worth):

The FBI suspected Franklin had help - on the inside.

Lightner … appeared at first to be a victim. But investigators became suspicious because he had stayed at the bank past his normal shift and surveillance video showed he was sending text messages shortly before the robbery happened.

A search of his cell phone found he was texting Franklin, the FBI said.

"Don't forget yo sunglasses," court documents quoted Lightner as texting Franklin.

Franklin responded: "Alrite."

Surveillance photos show the robber was wearing sunglasses.

The FBI is looking into whether the duo pulled the same stunt at Compass Bank, where Lightner previously worked as a teller. In that robbery, a man matching Franklin’s description took Lightner hostage, forced him into a vault. In that robbery and got away with $148,794.
