To get ready for the Lady Gaga Monster Ball concert she would attend later in the evening, Angelina K. Barnes of Oklahoma City wanted to recreate one of the pop diva’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards looks. So the 20-year-old dyed her hair purple and drowned the family cat in the bathroom, butchered it and rubbed its blood all over her face, KFOR-TV (Channel 4, Oklahoma City) reports.
Instead of going to the concert, Barnes was taken to a psychiatric hospital by police. Though she had been was diagnosed with depression, neighbors said the violence was "completely out of character."
Barnes, who had also mutilated the cat’s eyes and placed its liver in her makeup case, was charged with animal cruelty.
