NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: Bank Robbing Friends Busted By Rash Facebook Boasts
Bank tellers Estefany Martinez and Anna Margarita Rivera were arrested along with Martinez’s boyfriend, Ricky "Ricko Gee" Gonzalez, and Rivera’s brother, Arturo Solano, on charges of bank robbery and embezzlement for (allegedly) robbing the International Bank of Commerce, Houston Chronicle reports:
The heist had all the hallmarks of a classic bank robbery - masked suspects who appeared to be armed and terrorized bank tellers.
But investigators determined that the robbery was an inside job in part because of an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip that led them to the Facebook pages of Martinez and Rivera.
Two days before the robbery, Martinez, the teller, posted "Get $$$" as a status update on Facebook, authorities said.
Two days after the robbery, Martinez posted: "IM RICH …" followed by a rhyming expletive.
"WIPE MY TEETH WITH HUNDEREDS …" her boyfriend allegedly posted the day after the heist.
The man also boasted of wiping another part of his anatomy with purloined $50 bills.
The Facebook Foursome (allegedly) got away with roughly $62,000. If convicted, they each face up to 10 years in prison on the bank robbery charge and up to 30 years on the embezzlement charge.
