NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Deadbeat Dad Claims Muggers Took Child Support Payment
In a misguided plot right out of “The Marriage Of Figaro,” Michael Cherubino, 51, had what he thought was a fool-proof way to avoid a court hearing at which he was required to fork over $4,000 in back child support, The Tampa Tribune reports:
Cherubino [told deputies that he] answered the door Tuesday afternoon … and got involved in an argument with two suspects.
A fight ensued and Cherubino was stabbed in the abdomen by one of the assailants, according to the initial sheriff's report.
He was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries, deputies said.
Cherubino provided a description of the suspects and said they escaped in a white pickup. He also claimed they stole $4,000 from him, deputies said.
For reasons that are unclear, Cherubino eventually "admitted to detectives that he had lied" about the robbery, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Donna Black. So now, the deadbeat dad is also in hot water for making a false report to law enforcement.
