WHAT HEELS: A Matter Of Degree

Sisters Ilona Sales and Wanda Lupina, who share a home in Plainfield, IL, got into a knock-down, drag-out fight over the thermostat setting last winter, when Sales turned the heat up to 68 degrees and Lupina turned the heat down one degree. Sales (allegedly) punched her younger sister, pulled her hair and knocked her down. As a result of the fight, Sales was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery, reports the Chicago Tribune. Sales was found not guilty by Will County Judge Brian Barrett, because she and her sister engaged in “mutual battery.”

In a separate matter, Sales is suing in civil court to get her name off the house title and to force Lupina to buy out her share or to sell the home. Sales had used the proceeds of the sale of her home in AZ to pay off Lupina's $31,000 mortgage. Until all this is sorted out, the sisters will be forced to share the home - and the thermostat.
