WHAT A HEEL: DARE Officer’s DUI

Seymour (IN) Police Officer John Newcomb side swiped a parked car before wrapping his pickup truck around a tree. Neighbors who heard the crash and ran outside so they could tell the 9-1-1 dispatcher what had happened immediately suspected that Newcomb was a cop. Although the vehicle he was driving did not have a light bar on the roof, he was towing a rather distinctive trailer, WAVE-TV (Channel 3, Louisville, KY) reports:

"It said DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and Seymour Police Department - which made me think he was a police officer," said [Scott] Robbins.

Who says our schools turn out people who can think? Anyway, Newcomb is not only a cop, but he is a School Resource Officer who gives lectures on drug and alcohol at seven local schools. He claims that a dog in the truck distracted him, but he was booked on a DUI charge.
