NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Behind Blue Eyes

Although Conor McClelland, 19, was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a bandanna over his face, the clerk at a Marathon Quik Serve gas station recognized him as a repeat customer, WPXI-TV (Channel 11, Pittsburgh, PA) reports:

"The clerk actually knew the person that came in there and did the robbery, stated that she has seen him several times and he comes in several times in the morning," said Avalon Borough Police Chief Thomas Kokoski.

The clerk said McClelland has distinct blue eyes, which helped her identify him.

After clerk said told McClelland the police were on the way, he fled empty-handed. Police chased him on foot, and eventually found him hiding in the basement of his home, which was across the street from the convenience store.
