NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER: Life Imitates “Pants On The Ground”

Donna Decker called 911 to report spotting someone wearing a black hoodie inside an unlocked 1991 Dodge pickup in a Port Charlotte, FL, parking lot. When Decker approached the truck, the teen claimed it was owned by his grandfather but took off when he found out the police were on their way, The Smoking Gun reports:

The teenager’s shorts slipped down his legs, exposing his red boxer shorts to Decker (and anyone else in the vicinity). The underage suspect, the witness noted, disappeared into a nearby apartment building.

After deputies arrived, a brief canvass located Antonio Kleiss, 14, in his grandmother’s apartment. He still had on the black hoodie and tan shorts described by Decker. …

Decker, who had accompanied the police to the apartment ID’d Kleiss, and asked him to pull down his tan shorts “a little.” He was still wearing the red boxers. After searching the apartment, police found an ignition part hidden inside a sock in his sock drawer.

Kleiss was arrested and charged with felony burglary and attempted grand theft, released to the custody of a parent and placed on 21 days home detention.
