These hot dogs were served with guns, not buns
WHAT HEELS: CA hot dog vendor Jose Gilberto Ortiz, 58, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in San Jose for operating a gun-running and drug-dealing business from a hot dog stand. His partner in crime, Guillermo Gonzalez Castillo, 23, was also arraigned on drug and weapons charges. San Jose Mercury News reports:
[A] San Jose Police officer went undercover and began purchasing guns from Ortiz, the proprietor. Their first sale: two Smith & Wesson .357 revolvers for $700. …
Ortiz, who has previous weapon and drug convictions, later sold the undercover agent a shotgun, a rifle and four pistols and another Smith & Wesson, court documents said. …
Ortiz led police to his partner when he suggested Castillo could supply them with a machine gun, authorities say.
The undercover officer then bought an AK-47 assault rifle, 800 rounds of ammunition, a revolver, a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and a quarter pound of meth from Castillo, according to court documents.
To be frank, neither Ortiz – a felon – nor Castillo – an illegal alien who had been deported in 2008 – are allowed by law to possess firearms. If their court-appointed attorney can’t cut the mustard, Ortiz and Castillo will be in a pickle, and are looking at mucho years in jail – a prospect neither can be expected to relish.
