Wearing the wrong T-shirt got three Turks sentenced to life in prison

NOT THE SHARPEST KNIVES IN THE DRAWER: Talk about lost in translation! Three Turkish men wearing Emporio Armani T-shirts have been sentenced to life in prison – but not for committing a crime against fashion. They were convicted on charges of promoting “Armenian propaganda,” although all three tried to explain to the judge that Emporio Armani was a famous Italian clothing brand. However, their testimony did not stand up to three translators who testified that “Emporio Armani” meant “Armenian Empire,” News.am reports.

Turkish Penal Code Article 301 makes it a crime to "insult Turkishness" or to "insult Islam" and Article 305 makes it a crime to "promote" the Armenian Genocide as settled history.

And Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan really doesn’t know why the EU is slow-boating its accession to become a member state?
