Passenger steals money from flight attendant’s purse

WHAT A HEEL: Torry Johnson of Gloucester, MA, must have forgotten to fill out the form at the airport to get a refund of the hefty VAT tax he paid on everything he bought during his vacay in Keflavik, Iceland, because he needed money. Before the plane touched down. While en route to Logan International Airport, he (allegedly) filched $300 from an Iceland Air flight attendant's purse, The Associated Press reports:

Police say when the flight crew confronted Johnson, he returned the foreign currency but then locked himself in the plane's bathroom, where police believe he flushed the cash down the commode.

Ground crews at Logan International Airport retrieved the missing currency from the flight's waste storage tanks on Monday, TheBostonChannel.com reports.

Johnson was charged in East Boston District Court with one count of receiving stolen property and released on his own recognizance. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 13, 2012.
