Mother comes back from the dead, after son asks for a day off to attend her funeral
WHAT A HEEL: Scott Bennett, 45, needed to take some time off work but feared losing his job so he gave his boss the ultimate excuse: “My mother died.” To give his story the necessary verisimilitude, he placed an obit in The Jeffersonian Democrat (Brookville, PA).
The jig was up when the woman’s relatives told her about the obit and she visited the paper to find out what was going on. Editor Randy Bartley said she was very understanding when he told her that he had accepted the death notice in good faith after being unable to confirm the funeral arrangements by press time, The Associated Press reports. Brookville police charged the rotten son with disorderly conduct.
