<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Clearly (B)(ii) and (C) are met: Sharpton stated that last week’s protests were intended to “<A href="http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gzt5F_LdL__hNuiNlnZ4CzfSfgJQD909CI100" target=_blank><FONT size=2>close the city down</FONT></A>” as the “beginning of a <A href="http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gzt5F_LdL__hNuiNlnZ4CzfSfgJQD90HLBS02" target=_blank>long and sustained campaign</A>” until his demands are met and <A href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2008/04/26/2008-04-26_federal_case_in_sean_bell_shooting_unlik.html" target=_blank><FONT size=2>federal authorities re-open</FONT></A> the <A href="http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/04/25/sunny.bell/" target=_blank>already-adjudicated</A> Sean Bell police shooting case, no doubt in an effort to bolster the <A href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24326126/" target=_blank><FONT size=2>multimillion-dollar civil cases filed by Bell’s family</FONT></A>, as well as his <A href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2008/04/02/2008-04-02_defense_lawyers_get_sean_bell_friend_to_-3.html" target=_blank><FONT size=2>felonious</FONT></A> (and <A href="http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/04/25/sunny.bell/" target=_blank>fabricating</A>) friends.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">In addition, the demonstration violated New York State’s criminal laws - more than <A href="http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/05/08/bell.protests/" target=_blank>200 demonstrators were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct</A> for <A href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2008/05/07/2008-05-07_hundreds_protest_sean_bell_verdict.html" target=_blank>unlawfully obstructing vehicular traffic</A> – and standing in the middle of the street to block traffic is obviously <A href="http://www.theonion.com/content/news/new_get_the_fuck_outta_the_road" target=_blank>dangerous to the demonstrators</A> themselves – and could result in injuries or fatalities if an ambulance or fire engine were unable to get through. (No doubt, Sharpton doesn’t much care whether squad cars would be impeded, given his well-documented <A href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDiGHM0K0ic" target=_blank>views</A> of the police.)</P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Not only this is not Sharpton’s first <A href="http://www.larryelder.com/ascrimes.html" target=_blank>brush with the law</A>, but it isn’t even his first act of domestic terrorism.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </SPAN>In 1996, a hate-filled thug acted on Sharpton’s repeated calls for the removal of “white interlopers” and “bloodsucking Jews” from Harlem by spraying <A href="http://www.pulitzer.org/year/1996/spot-news-reporting/works/freddies.html" target=_blank>Freddie’s Fashion Mart</A> with gasoline and gunfire. Seven people were killed in the inferno inspired by Sharpton’s incendiary incitement.</P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Although the section of the criminal code quoted above was not yet in its current form, <A href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Abdel-Rahman" target=_blank><FONT size=2>Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman</FONT></A> and nine others were convicted in 1995 for&nbsp;<FONT color=#0000ff><FONT size=2><A href="http://www.cnn.com/US/9601/terror_trial/update/" target=_blank><FONT size=2><FONT size=2>planning a “war of urban terrorism</FONT></FONT></A></FONT></FONT>," including the destruction of many of the same bridges and tunnels targeted by Sharpton.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </SPAN>Specifically, Abdel-Rahman was convicted of having “<A href="http://www.uniset.ca/other/cs4/189F3d88.html" target=_blank><FONT size=2>induced or otherwise endeavored to persuade [one of his followers] to damage or destroy by fire or explosives</FONT></A>.” Which is exactly what happened at Freddie’s the following year.</P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Finally, not unlike <A href="http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2008/02/25/doj-chasing-islamic-charities-for-terrorism-financing/" target=_blank>Islamic terrorists</A>, Sharpton finances his activities through a network of <A href="http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C0CEFD9123CF93BA25750C0A966958260" target=_blank>dubious charities</A> that engage in <A href="http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2004404787_sharpton10.html" target=_blank>tax evasion</A> on a massive scale.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp; </SPAN>And keep in mind <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;</SPAN>that Abdel-Rahman’s attorney, <FONT size=2><A href="http://thestilettoblog.com/2007/04/27/the-daily-blade-terrorist-mouthpiece-disbarred.aspx" target=_blank><FONT size=2>Lynne Stewart</FONT></A></FONT>, and Sharpton’s attorneys, <A href="http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9B03EFDC143BF936A25754C0A9669C8B63" target=_blank><FONT size=2>C. Vernon Mason and Alton Maddox</FONT></A>, have all been disbarred for their overzealous (to put it mildly) advocacy.</P>

It’s more difficult to measure the effect of Operation Chaos in exit polling, because in addition to determining why a crossover voter chose one candidate over the other, you need to consider how (s)he intends to vote in November. </FONT></P>

While this suicide bombing in Iraq is the first linked to a former Guantánamo <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;</SPAN>detainee, the Defense Intelligence Agency says up to three dozen others are confirmed or suspected of having returned to terrorist activities – a claim that international human rights groups and lawyers for Gitmo detainees dispute, <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">&nbsp;</SPAN>contending that “only a handful” have fought U.S. forces after their release. A Pentagon spokesman tells the WaPo, “Our reports indicate that a number of former Guantánamo detainees have taken part in anti-coalition militant activities after leaving U.S. detention. As these facts illustrate, there is an implied future risk to U.S. and allied interests with every detainee who is released or transferred from Guantánamo.” To date, some 500 detainees have been released from Gitmo or transferred to other governments, and 65 of the 270 still incarcerated there will be cut loose as well. </FONT></P>
